Once upon a time I was camping with Brett Wyatt and, being the photo nerds we were, we decided to try putting my Raynox fisheye (specifically for my Sony Vx2100), on my Canon digital rebel. Well, some weird lighting effects were present because of the screw mount and the fact that it’s glass on glass, but the threads totally fit together. So I tried shooting some photos but couldn’t get past one major obstacle. That is, the fact that it won’t focus in all the way. Everything is blurry. So, two years later I ask myself if I could make it work and I came up with the idea to close down the aperture as much as possible and see if I can just get a range focus of any kind. It totally works! I’ve been playing around with it this week, and I can actually get stuff to kind of come into focus if I close down the aperture and shoot at a slow shutter. Check it out, mangs.

Alex once pointed out to me that if you look out of my window to the left, there is a section of the city that bares quite a resemblance to a village in South America or possibly Africa. If you look to either side of the only tall building in the area, it looks like all these tiny colorful buildings are cramped all together like a little fishing village in Tanzania. I’m fairly certain the borders around this area are a portal to the actual village, and thus if you look towards the horizon, we have New York City in the front, the ACTUAL São Paulo Brazil in the middle, and New York City again in the back… Any refuting of this claim would be futile, because it’s totally Brazil IRL.

Could we all just take a moment to vibe to this? ...

I’ve been completely out of the loop for the past few weeks, mostly because I’ve been spending all my time in school and/or in my room listening to hip hop and making popcorn for reasons far from edibility, arguing with my girlfriend about the effects of falling into a black hole. I will have a lot more updates coming now that I’m settled back into my apartment completely and am getting ready to embark on various documentary filming trips around the city for class. This is a shot from a recent trip to Bed-Stuy to film my friend Eddie for our first assignment.
